Respiration is considered an exothermic reaction because the energy (glucose)is released in the form of heat during a chemical reaction . During respiration process, glucose reacts with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water, and a large amount of heat. So, we can say that respiration is an exothermic reaction

This energy or hear is utilized by our cells for performing various functions like growth, movement, reproduction, repair of tissues, and maintaining overall body temperature so we can say that respiration is considered an exothermic reaction.
